We Both Liked "Cold, Cold Heart" by Tami Hoag, She Does It Again!

In Cold, Cold Heart by Tami Hoag, Dana gets away from a serial killer by killing him which got me hooked right from the start.  After spending a year in the hospital trying recover from what he did to her, she returns home, hoping to get some of her memory back.  Unfortunately, home proves not to be a safe haven and thoughts of how her best friend died haunt her.

You can never go wrong with a Tami Hoag book, and this one is no exception.  I LOVED it and always wanted to return to it to read more.  It has a great story line, even includes a dog which I loved as well as a good ending.

Cold, Cold Heart by Tami Hoag is an unusual thriller in that the majority of the book deals with Dana trying to solve the mystery of her best friend's disappearance that happened seven years ago which makes the killer nervous.  Dana was a beautiful news anchor on TV until she was abducted by a serial killer who she managed to kill, but escaped with lots of side effects from her trauma including brain damage.

I liked this book and agreed with its message, although it was somewhat redundant:  "Anyone could be a killer under the right circumstances" and "Where there's life, there's hope."  At the beginning, I'm wondering where the big mystery is since Dana kills the serial killer.    This book kept me guessing who killed Casey until near the end.  I really liked John who was nice to the stray dog who became his best friend.  Although there were several murders in this book, it is not full of gruesome details.  Mostly it's all about Dana trying to remember and putting together the pieces to find out what happened to her best friend with only a little action.

"The 9th Girl" by Tami Hoag Kept Me Turning Pages

You can never go wrong with a Tami Hoag novel and The 9th Girl is no exception.  There is a serial killer on the loose that has to be stopped, and Detective Nikki also has to deal with her son who is having issues in high school.  Both are real good story lines that I enjoyed very much.  This novel has good action in it that kept me turning pages.  Read and enjoy!

"Down The Darkest Road" by Tami Hoag

We both liked Down the Darkest Road by Tami Hoag!  A killer is loose; who and when will he strike next? This is an awesome book--Tami has done it again! Although there is not much action in this book, the suspense keeps building resulting in a fantastic ending! The writing is very good! Great job, Tami! Can't wait for her next book!
(Gerard's review)

Down The Darkest Road by Tami Hoag is about how the criminals’ rights are protected to the extent they actually walk around freely because there is no evidence that they did anything wrong.  In this book you know who the criminal is up front and what a pervert he is, yet the police can’t do anything about it because of the laws.  After a fight with her dad, 16-yr-old Leslie turns up missing.  Her younger sister, Leah, who never caused her parents any trouble grows resentful when she feels neglected.  The dad can’t handle the grief and gets killed in an “accident” leaving just the mother and Leah to deal with the incident.  When the cops can’t come up with any evidence to make an arrest, the mother goes off on her own with Leah to seek justice in her mind.

I thought this was an interesting read but didn’t approve of the mother going off on her own being a vigilante and putting Leah in danger.  I liked the ending and enjoyed the trip though.  My favorite characters were Leah and Mendez and cop.

"Secrets To The Grave" by Tami Hoag is FANTASTIC! (Updated 2/25/11)

What a fantastic sequel to Deeper Than The DeadSecrets To The Grave by Tami Hoag is a real page turner.  I couldn't put it down!  It starts off with a woman found brutally killed.  If you think you know who the killer is, think again because you don’t.  I loved all the many twists and turns in this.  Deeper Than The Dead was one of my top books from last year and now Secrets To The Grave is one of my top books of this year.  I sure hope there is a third book.  This is about as good as it gets!

Check out my teaser from this book.

UPDATED 2/25/11:  (Karen's review)
Secrets To The Grave by Tami Hoag is a psychological thriller with complicated crazy characters that will keep you guessing what is up with them.  It begins with a brutal murder witnessed by only a 4-yr. old girl and brings the reader along a bumpy road as the detectives try to figure out who killed Marissa and why.

I liked Anne, the heroine who was married to Vince, the former FBI special agent brought in to assist with the case.  This book is full of surprises and suspense.  Secrets to The Grave is a real page turner that got my interest right from the start and just kept getting better as it went along.  I wasn’t able to guess who the killer was for sure until almost the end.  I highly recommend this book if you want a good murder mystery.

"The Last White Knight" by Tami Hoag

The Last White Knight by Tami Hoag is a simplistic romance about a counselor to wayward teen girls falling in love with a good politician.  She has a troubled past she is not proud of and does not feel worthy of such a good guy.  The theme is about letting go of the past to have a good future and not punishing yourself forever for mistakes.  I thought it would be more about the girls she counseled, but that was very small part.  It was okay but I'll stick to her suspense novels over the romance ones.

"Deeper Than The Dead" by Tami Hoag

Deeper Than The Dead by Tami Hoag is a murder mystery with many victims.  It is a real tragedy in more ways than one.  The author does a fantastic job of delving into the four families of the children who find a dead woman buried in the park and their teacher who is truly concerned about them.  Another dimension of the book is the criminal investigation, which includes an FBI agent falling in love with the teacher and a deputy who is the father of a bully who is one of the boys who discovered the dead body in the park.  I liked the insight into the different families who all had issues.  I felt bad for all the children and enjoyed the surprise twists that kept popping up along the way.  It certainly was not predictable and kept my interest all the way through.  It was a fast read and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.
(Karen's Review 2/22/10)

Awesome book!  Page turner!  I really enjoyed Deeper Than The Dead by Tami Hoag!  One day four children come across a dead body in the park and from there this book takes off.  The story line between the kids, their parents, the school teacher and the detective trying to solve the crime is superb.  Throw in a lot of of twists and turns and a surprise ending and you get this great book!  Deeper Than The Dead got my attention at page 1 and kept it all the way through.   A MUST READ!  This was the first book I read by Tami, but will be back for more!
