WOW! Raised by a Serial Killer--Discovering the Truth About My Father by April Balascio is a great book to lead off the year. The author held nothing back and I felt so bad for her that she had to go through this. What a story this is! She has three dogs. Life is good for her finally! (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"A Blizzard of Polar Bears" by Alice Henderson
In A Blizzard of Polar Bears by Alice Henderson, Alex is doing research on polar bears. Someone wants that research and Alex dead! Who and why? This book is okay. I learned more about polar bears and the storyline is pretty good. (Gerard's review, 4 stars)

"Paws from Heaven: True Stories of God's Amazing Animal Angels"
Paws from Heaven: True Stories of God's Amazing Animal Angels contains short stories about cats the first half of the book, and short stories about dogs the second half of the book. I used two bookmarks and alternated between the cat and dog stories. These are very short so a good book for waiting at the doctor's office or for short waiting times at home. I enjoyed them but it took me a long time to get through it. It's definitely a relaxing read. (Karen's review, 4 stars)

"The Boyfriend" by Freida McFadden
In The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden, Syd wants a boyfriend real bad. She finally meets a guy who she really falls for! Is he Mr. Right or is she better off without him and dead wrong? This might be the best book I have read this year! It is fantastic! I never wanted to put it down, but forced myself to make it last a little longer. Everything is in it that a good book has. I highly recommend this one! I LOVED it! (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"The More the Terrier" by David Rosenfelt
The More the Terrier by David Rosenfelt is a good short book that I enjoyed. Andy takes the case of a man accused of murder. It went quickly because of the good storyline with a dog. It's an enjoyable light Christmas read. (Gerard's review, 5 stars)
