"The Element of Love" by Mary Connealy

It's been quite a while since I read a book.  Since my last cat crossed the bridge, reading just isn't as pleasurable for me.  I loved having my cat sit next to me or lay on my lap as a read and I really miss that.  Last week though, with the icy weather and cold temperatures, I picked up The Element of Love by Mary Connealy that had been sitting on my "to read" shelf for over a year now.  I enjoyed it very much and am glad I started reading again.  This is a Christian historical fiction story about three sisters--Laura, Jilly and Michelle who are carrying out a plan to oust their cruel evil stepfather from their home and protect their mother from further abuse.  It is set in California during 1972.  I liked it because I was intrigued by the three sisters right off the bat and the book begins with adventure and action from the start.  Their father owned a logging company and taught each of the girls skills to run it someday so they can take over the business.  They become owners when either they reach age 25 or when they get married.  They don't want to wait until 25 so they go off to find themselves husbands.  (Karen's review, 5 stars)

"A Court of Frost and Starlight" by Sarah J. Maas

It has been a long time since I read a Sarah J. Mass book, my bad!  In A Court of Frost and Starlight, Feye is getting ready for the winter holidays.  But not all is right in her kingdom.  I hated to see this book end.  This is much shorter than others I've read by her, but very good.  Sarah Maas is a very talented writer!  I LOVED IT!  (5++ stars)

"The Ex" by Freida McFadden is a Must Read!

In The Ex by Freida McFadden, Cassie's life is good.  She runs a bookstore and is going with a great man.  She sees her life as being married soon and having kids, but plans do not always come true!  Freida McFadden is the best!  The twists and turns she comes up with and the characters are always extremely good.  She is definitely my favorite author when it comes to thrillers.  Then ending of this book was fantastic!  (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"Too Old For This" by Samantha Downing" Was Better Than I Expected!

In Too Old For This by Samantha Downing, Lottie is old now and wants to put her past behind her.  However, the past has a way of catching up with you.  When it does, Lottie does what she does best.  What is that?  You will have to read this book to find out.  This book was far better than I thought it would be!  I hated to see it end.  Highly recommend this one!  (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"Love, Mom" by Iliana Xander

In Love, Mom
by Iliana Xander, Mackenzie's mom is dead.  She was a beloved author.  When Mackenzie starts to find letters from her mom all over the place, she knows she must find out what is going on.  This is good stuff.  It is filled with twists and turns that kept me engaged all the way to the end.  This would be a good read for a book club.  (Gerard's review, 5 stars)
