Tuesday Teaser: "Growing Pains" & "Nobody Loves Nobody"

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should  Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought  I  would play for fun! Just do the following
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on  that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away!   You don’t  want  to  ruin the  book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can  add the book to their TBR  Lists  if they  like your teaser.
Gerard's:
But she could only be on him so much, and because she spent the majority of her days going between two jobs, she wasn't able to police his extracurricular activities. She had no clue about the li'l somethin's he got into, or the crimes he committed with Tyrel and Will, and if she were to find out, Brian knew that she'd, first, be devastated, and then, second, flip out and go ballistic.
From page 25 of Growing Pains by Dwayne S. Joseph

Karen's:
You'll be teaching kindergarten through sixth grade at the shelter school," the personnel director said matter-of-factly. "Report to the metal shed at the compound under the Sixth South viaduct the day after Christmas vacation."
From page 4 of Nobody Don't Love Nobody by Stacey Bess.  Movie "Beyond The Chalkboard" is based on this book and was very good so that is why I wanted to read the book.

Have you read this one? What did you think of it? You can help our charity of the month just by leaving a comment on any of our blogs! We will donate 50 cents per comment at the end of the month. The charity for this month is at the top of our blog.

  4. I saw the shelter school movie and was moved. The side of homelessness we don't want to think about. Very emotional.

  12. Both of these teasers were great picks.

The first one made me think... yes, I'd be ballistic with stir crazy emotions to awaken a volcano.

The second one made me think... oh oh what has the person gotten themselves into. Hmmm do I detect a rally of people ready to rebel????

Enjoy the reads my dynamic duo :)
