Tuesday Teasers: One Fiction, One Non-Fiction

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should  Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought  I  would play for fun! Just do the following
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on  that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away!   You don’t  want  to  ruin the  book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can  add the book to their TBR  Lists  if they  like your teaser.
Gerard's:
But the creature in front of Gregor rose at least four feet in the air. Granted, it was sitting up on its back legs, a very unnatural-looking position for a cockroach, but still . . .
From page 25 of Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins.

Karen's:
Often, we focus on our own needs and simply overlook the needs of the other person.  The wife needs love; she is not trying to be disrespectful.  The husband needs respect; he is not trying to be unloving.
From page 32 of Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs.

Happy Reading!

  1. Interesting teasers! Though giant cockroaches are not my thing, lol. The second one is very true. Here is mine.

  2. Such diversity. I'm worried that the oversized cockroach isn't getting enough respect. Here's Mine

  3. In my family both of us need both love and respect. They go well together.

  6. Really Awesome teasers. I loved them both. I have been meaning to read Gregor the Overlander for a while. I will have to move it up my tbr list. The 2nd teaser is so thought provoking. =] Thanks for sharing and visiting My TT

  7. Two interesting -- and diverse -- teasers. I lived in South Florida for many years, and I saw cockroaches that looked big enough to saddle! (slight exaggeration)
My Teaser is from A COLLIE RESCUE.

  10. Both of these teasers are brilliant! Also feeling a little annoyed it took me nearly five minutes to place Suzanne Collins name; could've googled but I refused, I knew it was there somewhere! I blame the fact I've just woken up :)

My teaser for the week: https://myjourneywithdepression.wordpress.com/2012/09/11/teaser-tuesday-the-comfort-of-our-kind-september-11/

  14. A cockroach that is over four feet--yikes!

Love and Respect sounds like a good read. A lot of truth in that teaser.

  15. OMG - the cockroach of nightmares. I once read a story (can't remember what it was called, but Oracle comes to mind) about a future where cockroaches evolved and took over - using humans for food. uggggghhhhh. had a hard time with hat one.
