Tuesday Teasers from Scottoline, The Bible, and Stephen King and a "How To"

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should  Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought  I  would play for fun! Just do the following
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page (well, we cheat and choose specific ones)
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on  that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away!   You don’t  want  to  ruin the  book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can  add the book to their TBR  Lists  if they  like your teaser.

Karen's:
He felt jarred that they could laugh at such a thing. His only daughter could have been killed, at his wife's funeral.
From page 69 of Don't Go by Lisa Scottoline.

I've known people to pick it up in half an hour--but most take a little longer, so don't worry if you are not as quick as that.  Practice is very important; you've got to teach yourself new habits, just as when you learn to ride a bike, and repetition is the only effective way to do this.
From page 8 of The Great Juggling Kit--All you need to know to develop amazing juggling skills by Stuart Ashman.  (Watch my video of me learning the first step that I posted yesterday.)

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
From Galatians 5:13-14 of The Holy Bible, (King James version).

Gerard's:
"He told me the Joyland funhouse--Horror House, he called it--is haunted. I asked him if he was pulling my leg, and he said he wasn't."
From page 33 of Joyland by Stephen King. (Review posted tomorrow.)

Happy Reading!

  1. I like Scottoline -- that was good teaser. I have The Testing on my stack, even though it's gotten mixed reviews. I don't read King.

    My teaser is here.

    1. I don't read King either--my husband likes him though. I read a couple and didn't care of either of them.

  3. Maybe I will try Joyland. I just read Under the Dome though and I had to trudge through it before that I hadn't read Stephen King for years.

    1. UNDER THE DOME was huge, Gerard read that one too! At least JOYLAND is short!

    1. It's a good story--this teaser is one of the funny parts actually about when he dropped his baby girl when at his wife's funeral.

  6. Don't Go: Interesting reaction, although hysteria in times of tragedy/near-tragedy are, to me, normal.

Juggling: I'd be the one that takes longer to learn how to do this. I have no hand-eye coordination. I'm most likely to drop it than I am to catch it.

Bible: Awesome passage. Reminds me of Sunday School :)

Joyland: I haven't read a Stephen King book in ages. It's time to do so again, and I think this is the one I'll start with.

    1. His army buddies were teasing him about dropping his baby girl--she wasn't hurt, someone caught her.

It's taking me longer too, but then I only practice a few minutes at a time some days, not every day.

The Bible is awesome, I'm really into it!

      Hope you enjoy JOYLAND.
