"I Will Find You" by Harlan Coben

In I Will Find You by Harlan Coben, David is wrongfully sent to prison for killing his son.  His wife left and so why not stay in prison.  A long while later, a friend of his tells him that she has proof his son is alive. However, what can David do about it?  He is in a prison that cannot be broken out of, or can it?  This was pretty good.  It moved kind of slowly with no real twists or turns, but I still think it is worth reading.  (Gerard's review, 4 stars)

"The New Couple in 5B" by Lisa Unger

In The New Couple in 5B by Lisa Unger, Rosie and her husband, Chad, are trying to make ends meet, but it is hard until they are left an apartment with $5,000,000!  Unfortunately, the apartment building is known for having a history of people dying.  Will Rosie and Chad be added to the list?

Lisa Unger is always good and this book is no exception.  I kept turning pages and flew through it.  The last 40 or so pages were packed with action and a great ending to say the least!  (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"Everyone Is Watching" by Heather Gudenkauf

Everyone Is Watching by Heather Gudenkauf is a page turner thriller!  I was hooked right from the start and found it hard to put down.  It is about a reality TV show with a prize of $10,000,000 and five contestants got an email invitation saying they were nominated to be on the show.  Similar to the TV show Survivor, but the challenges are brutal and the audience decides who must leave, not the players.  As contestant's private secrets are revealed, it becomes clear that this is much more than just a show.  The background of the characters is gradually revealed as the book goes on.

This was wild and entertaining.  I enjoyed the challenges best, and really couldn't figure out the connection to all the characters.  This was an entertaining and enjoyable read for me since I like Survivor and competition.  I never knew what was going to happen next since this is packed with surprises all along the way!  I recommend you read this one and see if you can guess who wins.  (Karen's review, 5 stars)

Gerard's review 4/9/24:
If you like reality shows, Everyone Is Watching by Heather Gudenkauf is the book for you!  Five people are playing for a chance to win ten million dollars!  You can pick a person and see if they win.  What do they have to do?  You will have to read the book to find out!  This book was pretty much action filled.  I LOVED IT!  It is wild from start to finish!  I highly recommend this one!  Even if you aren't big on reality TV shows (like me), you may still like this since I did!  (5++ stars)

"No One Can Know" by Kate Alice Marshall

In No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall, three sisters have a pact that no one will know.  One of the sisters is returning to the place where their pact was started.  What will happen if or when the secret gets out?  I liked all three sisters in this.  The storyline was good, but moved too slow for my taste.  Had it moved along faster, I would have given it 5 stars; consequently, it only gets 4.  It's still worth reading and perhaps the pace would not be a problem for you.  (Gerard's review, 4 stars)

"The Coworker" by Freida McFadden

The Coworker by Freida McFadden is about revenge and what a story it is!  It is told from two points of view--Natalie's and Dawn's.  These two women are co-workers.  When Dawn turns up missing, Natalie becomes the primary suspect.  This book has an amazing plot that kept my interest throughout.  It's quite the elaborate mystery with lots of surprises along the way and an amazing ending.  WOW!  (Karen's review, 5 stars)

Gerard's review 3/16/24:
In The Coworker by Freida McFadden, you can always tell when Dawn is in the office because she arrives he same time every day and has no friends.  On day she is not at her desk.  Natalie, her co-worker, gets a phone call that changes everything.

Freida McFadden's books are very good and this is no exception.  It has plenty of twists and turns.  Good luck guessing how this one all plays out!  (5++ stars)

"Where the Dead Sleep" by Joshua Moehling (#2)

In Where the Dead Sleep by Joshua Moehling, Packard is the law in this small town.  Not that he wants to be, but somebody has to do it.  Now a murder takes place and he has to figure out who did it and why.  There is no shortage of people who could have done it; but one thing is certain.  Whoever did it wants it to stay unsolved.  This has good action and kept me turning pages.  There is a cliff-hanger ending though, but there will be a next book.  (Gerard's review, 5 stars)

"First Lie Wins" by Ashley Elston

First Lie Wins
by Ashley Elston is about a young girl who can change her looks and her name to get the goods on people.  Then her boss can get them to give up their money before their secrets get out.  Later in the book, who is conning who?  This was an interesting read to say the least and, as usual, I got it wrong.  See if you can figure out how this all turns out.  Maybe you can do better.  (Gerard's review, 5 stars)

"Till Murder Do Us Part" & "Ramp Up to Murder" by James Patterson

Till Murder Do Us Part
by James Patterson actually is two good stories with the other being Ramp up to Murder.  In the first story, Katie has been married for 12 years and one day finds out that she really does not know her husband at all.

The second story is about Brandi who moves to Tucson and soon makes a new best friend and a boyfriend.  However, things go from bad to worse.

I liked both stories.  I flew through this book!  (Gerard's review, 5 stars)

"ANNA" by Matthew Blake

In ANNA by Matthew Blake, Anna Ogily is a budding writer.  One night while asleep, she stabs to death two people!  How can this be?  Dr. Benedict Prince is an expert in sleep-related homicides.  It will be up to him to figure all this out.  This book is wild, but in a good way!  It has a great storyline that kept me turning pages quickly.  I tried to figure it out, but was all wrong.  The last 100 pages or so will leave you breathless!  This is a must read--do not miss this one!  (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"Alex Cross Must Die" by James Patterson

In Alex Cross Must Die by James Patterson, a jet crashes and explodes on a runway.  The jet was shot down but by whom and why?  It is up to Alex Cross and his friends to find out who did it.  This was good stuff!  Has a good storyline that drew me in right away.  The characters were well developed and the ending was packed with lots of action.  (Gerard's review, 5 stars)

"The Housemaid's Secret" by Freida McFadden

The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden is a good mystery with twists and a great ending!  I enjoyed this book and liked the short chapters that flew by.  It's about a housekeeper who gets mixed up in trying to help a woman escape from her abusive husband, but finds out what she thought was all wrong.  This book is filled with deceit, relationships, and vengeance.  At one point, nothing made sense but as I kept on reading, it all became clear.    (Karen's review, 5 stars)

Gerard's review 1/5/24:
In The Housemaid's Secret by Frieda McFadden, Millie needs a job in the worst way.  When a very rich man offers her a job as a housekeeper, she takes it.  The only thing is that she cannot open the door of the room that his wife is in.  Will she open that door?  What would she find?  Millie has secrets of her own that better not get out.  This book is really, really good with a fantastic storyline!  It kept me turning pages right to the end.  Must read this one!  I loved it!  What a great book to start off the new year.  (5++ stars)

"The Nature of Fragile Things" by Susan Meissner is Thrilling Historical Fiction

In The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner, an Irish woman comes to America to marry a man she has never met and knows nothing about.  That is just one of the multiple storylines in this book, all of which were interesting.  You will be engaged and get lost in this wonderful book.  There is lots of action and plenty of twists and turns.  Do not miss this one, it's a must read!  (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

Karen's review Jan. 23, 2022:
The Nature of Fragile Things
by Susan Meissner is the story of a mail order bride from Ireland coming to San Francisco to marry a widower and become a mother to his 7-yr.-old daughter shortly before the great earthquake of 1906.  The full story unfolds slowly, but there is enough action along the way to keep the reader interested.  Sophie answers Martin Hocking's ad for a wife and mother because she is not happy living in bad conditions in New York and wants a home and a child to love.  Martin wants a wife to keep up appearances and to care for his daughter when he's away on business.  It is a loveless marriage purely of convenience.  This book is very good!  It is about family secrets, fraud, friendship and love.  (5 stars)

"Just the Nicest Couple" by Mary Kubica

In Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica, Jake and Nina are married and often fight.  Jake walks out after the last fight one night and goes for a walk.  He runs into Nina's friend, Lily, but she has no idea what went on.  Jake has not been seen since.  What is going on?  This book was a bit drawn out, but I liked it a lot.  It has a good storyline, characters I cared about, and a surprise ending.  It could have used a bit more action though.  (Gerard's review, 4.75 stars)

"None of This is True" by Lisa Jewell

In None of This is True by Lisa Jewell, Alix does a podcast and meets Josie who has the same birthday.  Josie tells Alix she is on the verge of doing something very different in her life and would love it if Alix would do a podcast about it.  Alix does podcasts about successful women and is popular.  Alix is not sur about this, but decides to go ahead and do it.  Soon she will be sorry she ever met Josie!

I thought this book was very good.  Alix and Josie are both great characters and the storyline is really good.  This is a wild ride and I loved it!  (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"The Power Couple" by Alex Berenson

In The Power couple by Alex Berenson, Rebecca and Brian decide to go to Europe for their 20th wedding anniversary with their kids.  Unfortunately, their daughter is kidnapped and they must work together to find her!  This book was okay, but went back and forth in time which broke up the story for me.  I liked the twist at the end, but feel this could have used more action.  (Gerard's review, 4 stars)

"The Only One Left" by Riley Sager is Amazing!

The Only One Left by Riley Sager, is the best book I've read this year by far!  It starts out a bit slow, but boy, does it pick up!  It's about Kit, a caregiver, who is hired to take care of a paralyzed person who was suspected of murder and lives in a big spooky house at the top of cliff.  Kit is hired soon after the previous caregiver mysteriously left.  This book has it all--mystery, suspense, action, devious characters, creepy fathers and lots of surprise twists with a great ending!  This was crazy good!  Loved it and highly recommend it.  (Karen's review, 5 stars)

Gerard's review 10/2023:
In The Only One Left by Riley Sager, Kit becomes a caregiver for Lenora Hope.  It is believed Lenora killed her parents, but no proof was found.  Kit is afraid after a few days but needs the money so stays on the job.  She is soon to be a lot more frightened!  This book is amazing!  It has lots of twists and turns with an easy storyline to follow.  The characters are great too.  If you think you know how it all plays out, trust me, you do not!  Must read this one!  (5++ stars)

In You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose, Grace needs to get away for awhile.  A ranch in the middle of Wyoming seems like the spot; but after a bit, things do not seem right.  The owner of the ranch is getting a little too friendly so it's time to leave if she can!  This book was really good!  It has great action and a good storyline. It wasn't hard to follow at all and what an ending!!! (Gerard's review, 5++ stars)

"Killer Instinct" by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (The Naturals #2)

Killer Instinct
by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the second in a series about five young teens who each have a special ability to solve crimes.  In this one, a serial killer is on the loose and needs to be stopped.  This was pretty good.  I liked how all the teens had to work together to figure out how to stop the killer.  It has a good storyline with good action.  (Gerard's review, 5 stars)
