"Mischief Master Class" by Dogs, 2 Cats and a Turtle

Inspirational,a 'Must Read" for dogs
Mischief Master Class by dogs, two cats and a turtle assisted by Annette Vivian is a really fun book about mischief real pets get into.  It has lots of great short stories and pictures!  I LOVED it!  (Gerard's review, 5+ stars)--UPDATED 2/13/13

Mischief Master Class by Dogs (two cats and a Turtle!)...assisted by Annette Vivian is a must read for all dogs!  It is a great reference book giving 20 rules that dogs (and any pet really) should know for getting away with mischief by becoming a "Master of Mischief."  It is a collaborative effort spearheaded by Snoopy (visit his blog by clicking the link), a dog blogger who is a bearded collie therapy dog but that doesn't mean he can't get into mischief.  In fact, he even hosts a "Monday Mischief" blog hop every week.  Various pets on the Internet contributed their mischief stories which Snoopy cleverly used as case studies to illustrate how the rules work.  By the way, our pets have rule #1 down pat:  "Look Cute."

It has lots of colored photos and URLs for videos to watch of the contributors too (with their blog URLs) as well as many of Snoopy himself, of course.  It is a quick, fun, light read that I enjoyed in spite of the overuse of a couple words:  "doh" and "Tee Hee."  My favorite mischief was the two dogs who ate the cookies that were hidden inside the oven and then left the empty tray inside and closed the door when they were done!  I must admit, I've never seen any other book quite like this one although "Dear Sparkle:  Cat-to-Cat advice" which is written by a cat for cats comes close.

Mischief Master Class is available in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon with 50% of the proceeds donated to Therapy Pet Support charities which we think is awesome!

Good job, Snoopy and your buddies!

Which Blog Header Picture Do You Like Best?

Just trying to liven things up a bit
Here is what our mom called an outtake.  We think she should have used this for the header picture this week.  Which one do you like best?  We are also reading Dear Sparkle:  Advice From One Cat to Another but it is on the Kindle so isn't pictured in the header.  We did borrow an image from Amazon though and posted it on the side bar.  It's a great book for us cats!  Meow!

Love My Bookplates From Susan Faye!

My Book Stickers That I Won!

I happened to see a giveaway for some cute "This Book Belong To" stickers when visiting 365 Cat Ladies and Friends so decided to enter and won!  I just got these a couple days ago and today chose which books to put them into.  I picked books that I felt I may lend out sometime or that I am sure I will keep and not sell or give away.  Here are the books I put them into:

You can visit Susan Faye's Etsy shop and get some for your books too for just $5.00 or a number of other cool things too!

Why Do I Blog? Good Question! (Writer's Workshop/Back2Blogging Day 5)

I ask myself this question a lot lately because I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by Linky deadlines and the feeling that I should visit all the other links but just don't have the time and if I did, why would I want to spend all day and evening on the computer?  I guess I'm just addicted to blogging now but do get pleasure out of posting things people find funny or interesting, but this SITS Back2Blogging Challenge has really put the pressure on and tuckered me out—talk about time-consuming!

So, why do I blog?
  • We learn a lot through blogging—tips, places, needs of others and new things like blogging pets!
  • I enjoy writing over talking.
  • It’s fun to read about thoughts, views, lifestyles and experiences of others, including the cats and dogs.
  • Sharing with others is just something I like to do.
  • We have made some new friends through blogging through exchanging comments.
  • I find blogging challenging and I like a challenge.

What if we all stopped?  I know I would miss blogging now that I’ve been bitten by the blogging bug.  We would have so much more time though to do other things such as:  Watch TV, clean, get to know our neighbors, go places, read more books, visit people face-to-face, exercise, play more with my pets and talk more with my husband.  What would you do if you didn’t blog.  I think I would get bored after awhile.

Here’s my blogging challenge:  Let’s everyone stop blogging completely for two weeks—no posting, no scheduling posts, no commenting or reading others blogs.  If everyone stopped at the same time, we wouldn’t be missing anything.  I think it is a great idea!  Everyone may come back refreshed with lots of ideas and anxious to do it some more.  On the other hand, we may find that we really don’t miss it and could get on with other things in our life.  Now, which two weeks should the blogosphere take a vacation?  I’m thinking maybe November.  We have to plan it far enough ahead to get the word out.  Who’s with me on this?  Leave your suggestions in the comments.  What do you think?

This post is in response to Day 5 of SITS Back2Blogging  and Mama Kat's Writer’s Workshop prompt:  Why do you blog? What purpose does it serve you and how have you benefited from sharing a piece of yourself online this way?  Here are links to my other posts I wrote for this challenge--Whew!

No-Go BlogHer Blog Hop

NoGoBlogHer

1. Answer the questions on your blog and then link up that post in the Linky that will be available on both ToBeThode or Musings of a Marfan Mom. (you only need to link up once)
2. Grab the button for the No-Go BlogHer party (it’s on my right sidebar) and place it on your sidebar during the duration of the party.

Here are the questions we want you to answer:

1. When did you start blogging?

We just started this blog in June of this year.

2. Why did you start blogging?

I started our book blog here for the following reasons:
  • I wanted to delete some pages on my Personal News Network (PNN) Zemeks’ Updates blog to free up more space there.
  • I also felt since Blogger had the affiliation with Amazon, that it made more sense to have my book blog on Blogger and make use of the Amazon ads, hoping to earn a little extra money blogging. It was an easy way to link to Amazon and get the picture of the book in the post.
  • I was kind of bored and wanted to try out the new design templates Blogger now has available because I like to switch things up now and then. I feel sort of locked into my custom design at my personal blog.
  • I really like being able to use my own pictures in my header and change it from week to week.

3. What is one thing you are going to do this week that is WAY cooler than going to BlogHer?

Spend time with my husband and our pets.  May go to the Browns Family Day scrimmage at the stadium or perhaps just to the park with our dog.

4. Share a post that you think says a lot about you or is your favorite.

I Don't Like These, I'm Going Back To The Library!

We always go the library on Saturday mornings.  Gerard usually has some books waiting for him to pick up that he ordered ahead.  We combine our stacks and then I get a picture of them to post for our header on here along with whatever pet comes around.

This morning it was just Spunky Doodle who came.  Unfortunately, Gerard started reading Before I Fall and decided it was too much of a teen girl book that he didn't want to read anymore.  He also got Mr. Peanut which is about the Sam Shepherd case he said.  Once he found out other books he ordered arrived later in the day, he took these to back and got two others instead:  Zoo Story and A Dog's Purpose.

This made it necessary for me to retake the blog picture only Spunky Doodle just was too hot and not in the mood.  Manny came up though, but only wanted to do it if he could be on the ledge.  I said, okay and retook the picture.

This is another advantage of using your local library rather than buying books.  We love the library and are participating in the "Books Ahoy" contest.  They have drawings every week of the contest and we both won Indians ticket vouchers and two coupons for Chipotle.

How often do you go to the library?

"Amber Morn" by Brandilyn Collins

I loved Amber Morn by Brandilyn Collins.  It is the first one I ever read by Brandilyn Collins but I will be reading more.  "Amber Morn" is filled with action and suspense brought about through a hostage situation in a small town at a café where older people do a blog together.  I finished reading this book in just two days.  It held my interest and I was anxious to keep on reading.  It is the last book in the Kanner Lake Series but I still enjoyed it even though I hadn't read the other three first.  It has Christian overtones through it but does not preach at all.  I liked the way it ended too.

Please tell us: What categories of literature do you like? What are you reading now? Who are your top five favorite authors? Have you read this one? What did you think of it?
