"Half A King" by Joe Abercrombie is a Real Page Turner

Half a King by Joe Abercrombie is about a young man named Yarvi. When he finds out that his brother and father are dead, he is next in line to become the king—something that he does not want. As events unfold, he finds himself a slave on a ship. Does he stay a slave? Does he take his rightful place as king? And what and who killed his brother and father? This is a real page turner of a great fantasy novel with plenty of action which had me glued to the book. I think there is going to be a book two and if so, I’ll be on it! LOVED IT!

"The Infinite Sea" by Rick Yancey is Action Packed!

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey is the second in the 5th Wave series and as good as the first!  Planet Earth is being attacked and overtaken by aliens!  A band of young teens are trying to (1) stay alive and (2) put a stop to it if they can.  This book picks up where the first one left off with plenty of action.  I finished it in just two days!  I cannot wait to see how it all plays out!

"The Furies" by Natalie Haynes is a Page Turner

The Furies by Natalie Haynes is about a young lady teacher, Alex.  When her fiance it killed, she gets a job at a school called "The Unit" where kids wind up that have been kicked out of other schools.  She only has five kids which sounds pretty easy.  I loved the interaction between Alex and her class.  This book had me turning pages and I was always glad to get back to it.  It's well worth reading and has a great ending.

Tuesday Teasers: Four Today

Gerard's:

I'm just going to answer as simply as I can:  I met them on the 6th of January 2011, in the basement room at 58 Rankeillor Street.  And I wouldn't have believed any of them could do something so monstrous.
From page 6 of The Furies by Natalie Haynes.

"Sometimes you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and what happens is nobody's fault.  You just want to feel bad so you'll feel better."
From page 17 of The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey.

Karen's:

How many nights since leaving Willow Springs had she lain awake and worried about Sadie--the young girl whose past too closely resembled her own.  Jonathan had purposed to buy Sadie from the brothel too, after Annabelle had asked him, but the madam wouldn't negotiate with Jonathan on that one.

From page 23, of Revealed by Tamera Alexander.

The consequential turned into the providential.  While they were reacting, God was enacting.
From page 76 of Children of the Day by Beth Moore.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should  Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought  I  would play for fun! Just pick two sentences from the book you are reading.

"Bittersweet" by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore Starts Slow but Gets Really Good

Bittersweet by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore is told by Mabel, a young college student who is befriended by Eve, a wealthy young girl.  Mabel joins Eve in Eve's family summer estate and loves it!  It's everything that she does not have.  But at what price does all this wealth come?

The start of this book just plodded along so much that I almost dumped it but a reviewer on Amazon said it starts slow but to stay with it, so I did.  It did pick up and then got really good.  It's well worth reading and there was a dog in it with the same name as our dog--Abby.  I loved her!
