Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought I would play for fun! Just do the following
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.
Shame has bound my truth and stolen away my words. How do you tell your mother you've become a target, a loser, a failure, a lunchtime joke? From page 122 of Dear Bully--70 Authors Tell Their Stories
Karen's:
I tried to shape my happiness out of the fabric of his, like a good wife ought to, but his contentment tore at me. I would see him standing at the edge of the fields with his hands in his pockets, looking out over the land with fierce pride of possession, and think, He's never looked at me like that, not once..

ReplyDeleteTeaser Tuesday @ Radiant Shadows
Good teasers. I particularly liked the second one.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen and Gerard,
ReplyDeleteTwo great teasers this week from some pretty emotional and powerful book choices, both so different and yet so similar!
Gerards choice deals with a subject that most of us can relate to in some shape or form, both as young people and adults alike.
Karens words were very poignant and from the heart, although the basis for the story, is once again controversial and emotionally demanding.
I think that I would probably gain more from reading 'Mudbound' and have added that to my reading list, thank you for sharing.
