"When You See Me" by Lisa Gardner (Both Liked This One!)

When you See Me by Lisa Gardner is about how a small town is a center for evil.  This book focuses on the good guys following up on old murder cases when they keep finding skeletons of dead bodies buried in shallow graves in the Appalachian Mountains and stumbling on something even more complex.  One of the main characters is a young teenage girl who watched a bad man kill her mother with a bullet when she was just six that went through her throat and also hit the girl, taking away her ability to talk.  She is a big help to the task force working on solving these crimes.

This book is well written in that in spite of all the different characters, I was able to keep them all straight and never once felt confused.  I felt sad for the little girl (Bonita).  I liked that the task force included a couple civilians as well, one a computer analyst and the other a survivor of rape and kidnapping by a serial killer (Keith and Flora).  This book kept my interest from start to finish.

Gerard's review 7/20/20
In When You See Me by Lisa Gardner, bodies are starting to pile up in the hills of a small town in Georgia.  Now it's up to detective D.D. Warren and her crew to find answers and put an end to it.  There are lots of characters in this book and lots of action!  It flows well with an exciting final part.

"Touch & Go" by Lisa Gardner

Touch And Go by Lisa Gardner is the best mystery/thriller that I've read in quite a while!  I really looked forward to reading it and had a hard time putting it down.  It's about a construction company run by Justin who is a hands-on, well-respected boss and quite wealthy who has a wife and 15-yr.-old daughter.  Three thugs bust into their home and abduct the whole family without any neighbors even noticing.

This book deals with family secrets, embezzling, betrayal, infidelity and the police/FBI investigation with interesting characters.  I recommend this one if you like suspense and a good mystery with a great ending!
(Karen's review)

You can never go wrong with a Lisa Gardner book and Touch and Go has to be her best one yet!   A wealthy family is kidnapped,  husband, wife and a 15-yr. old daughter.  What is so good about this book is you get the two stories:  (1)  They are held by three guys in a prison that the husband built and (2) you get the three stories about the family members which is the best yet!  At over 600 large print pages, this is not a quick read, but don't let that scare you off.  It is worth it!  This is a must read!  The ending is not to be missed--it's a jaw dropper!

"Alone" by Lisa Gardner

Alone by Lisa Gardner is a page turner that had my attention from the first page all the way to the end. It's about Bobby, a police sniper who responded to a domestic violence hostage situation and killed the husband who had his finger on the trigger of a gun pointed at his wife, Catherine, and 4-yr-old son, Nathan. Afterwards, he felt terrible about killing a man. His life got complicated when the man turned out to be a high court judge's son and learned he may be charged with murder! The judge files for custody of his grandson, claiming Catherine is a bad mother who is out to kill him by starving him to death. Catherine feels alone as she tries to protect her son, Bobby feels alone as he deals with his career problems and chooses to help Catherine when she tells him there was an intruder in her house.

This book psychological thriller is filled with suspense, manipulation, murder, family secrets, domestic violence and interesting characters. I had a hard time putting this one down and recommend it. "Catch Me" by Lisa Gardner is her Best Yet! (UPDATED)

I LOVED Catch Me by Lisa Gardner a lot! Okay, here is the deal on this book.  You have two best friends and they both die on the same day in back-to-back years.  Now that date is coming up and you know that you are next.  What would you do?  It doesn't get any better than this!  WOW!  This a definitely a page turner with a fantastic ending.  It has to be her best book yet!  Read and enjoy,

Karen's review (5 stars):
Oh wow is all I kept saying through this book, especially the last quarter of it!  This is an interesting book about child abuse with the unusual angle of showing the later results of it.  I really liked this book a lot because the plot drew me in quick.  D.D. Warren finds that her recent pedophile shooting is connected with another one.  As she leaves the crime scene, she sees a woman, Charlene, lurking by her car and chases her down.   Charlene explains that on the 21st, four days away, she will be murdered and would like D.D. to handle the investigation because she is a good detective.  Charlene's two best friends from childhood were murdered last year and the year before on the 21st so Charlene thinks she'll be next.  What would you do if you knew you were going to die in just a few days?  Charlene is a 9-1-1 dispatcher who tries to get prepared by taking up running, boxing and shooting.

It seems as though a vigilante  is out to rid Boston of the pedophiles when another one is shot down in cold blood--this time a 16-yr-old boy.  I found it very interesting how the author showed how older kids find their targets through gaming websites and that more and more older kids are taking advantage of younger kids based on information she got when interviewing an internet safety expert.  I thought I had it figured out before the detectives did and then when the one detective presented my theory, I thought for sure I was right but found out I wasn't.

This book really made me think.  Is one criminal worse than another?  Is it okay to take the law into your own hands to protect the innocent?  It also gave me a better understanding of how people's pasts can really mess up their lives.  This would be a real good book for a book club.  I found myself wanting to discuss it with someone as I was reading it!  I highly recommend this one!

"Live to Tell" by Lisa Gardner (Updated)

Live To Tell certainly kept my interest.  It focused on Danielle who was the lone survivor when the rest of her family was murdered.  She went to work as a nurse in a Children's Psych ward to help kids who had mental illnesses.  That gave me insight into something I knew absolutely nothing about so found very interesting.  On the other hand, the "spiritual healer" that was into New Age thinking was too goofy for me.  That part of the book made no sense to me but was a core part of the book.  I liked it because it was interesting, but also found it very sad and depressing.  I did liked the ending though but wow, what a journey!

Gerard's review:
Live To Tell by Lisa Gardner is one of her best books yet!  Two families are brutally murdered, one girl hangs herself, a boy has a fixation to kill his mother, and another girl thinks she's a cat!  Is that enough action for you?  I loved that this book was action-packed and moved along quickly.  It had me turning page after page!  I highly recommend you read this one!

"Gone" by Lisa Gardner is Good!

Gone by Lisa Gardner is another suspense thriller that is fascinating. Rainie is the wife of a semi-retired FBI profiler (Quincy), a child advocate for 7-yr-old Dougie who has issues, and an alcoholic who is kidnapped on a stormy night from her car on a desolate road in Oregon seven days after her husband left her. It’s a race against the clock to find Rainie before it’s too late. The cops really have no leads and are at the mercy of the kidnapper who calls the shots. Quincy and his daughter, Kimberly—an FBI agent from Atlanta both become actively involved in the investigation. When Quincy overhears the kidnapper’s voice he is shocked as was I at who it was.

My favorite part of this book was Rainie fighting to figure out how to escape and protect Dougie. Dougie was a very interesting character who kept my interest. He provided an interesting facet of this novel. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes a thrilling mystery.

"The Neighbor" by Lisa Gardner

I would think The Neighbor by Lisa Gardner is more of a woman's book, but I read it and enjoyed it.  It's a fiction story about a woman who disappears one night, all signs point to foul play and to her husband.  This book is a real page turner!  The characters are very believable.  I have to admit, the ending surprised me very much!  I highly recommend you read this book.
