Gerard's:
And as sleep wafted over from the continent of her body, warm and unlimited beside him, he dreamed of the amethyst striking his forehead again and again of his own candy-apple blood on his hands, and of the boy repeating that revelatory, heart-stopping sentence--Nothing can really hurt you, Will--as if it all had something to teach him, as if it were something he ought to try again.
From page 15 of If I Fall, If I Die by Michael Christie.
Without pausing to look back, she raced past the end of her bed even as she heard him coming after her, praying the wound she'd caused would slow her attacker down enough so that she could get out. Alive. From page 67 of Hush by Karen Robards. (click link to see both our review, we both loved this one!)
Karen's:
"I know the lumpectomy isn't a big deal, but what if you have to do chemo again? I graduate in three months and I thought we were going to finally start trying for a"--he clears his throat and looks at me--"a baby."From page 43 of Before I Go by Colleen Oakley. (Click link to see our reviews--Gerard Liked it, I did not!)
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought I would play for fun! Just pick two sentences from the book you are reading.
Happy Reading!
I started Before I Go, but put it aside. I've witnessed this story in real life and decided I didn't need to revisit. :( I have the LIW book on my stack too. My teaser & giveaway

DeleteKaren says: I should have done what you did with Before I Go, but stuck with it. My husband loved it and said I should read it so I did, but didn't like it at all. It was depressing and too real.
DeleteLove the Teaser from If I Fall I die. Sounds like something I would enjoy Reading. Here is mine

DeleteWe both loved this one (except for the one hot sex chapter which I could have done without). I really want to read more of her books, which would you recommend?
DeleteAll of these are good choices. I so want to read if I Fall, If I die!

Before I Go sounds absolutely heartbreaking! I do like the sound of Hush. Thanks for visiting my TT https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/teaser-tuesday-february-10/
ReplyDeleteBefore I Go is heartbreaking but at least the couple has a strong marriage and there is some humor in it. I didn't like that Daisy and her best friend put down Pamela for wearing shirts with animals on them because I wear a lot of those! I did like Daisy's secret thoughts at her doctor appointments.
DeleteHush grabs me!
ReplyDeleteMy teaser this week is from a mid-grade/young adult historical fiction set in Biblical times: http://pdworkman.com/excerpt-from-lamp-of-darkness/
Karen says, HUSH is really good! Hope you read it!
DeleteAll 3 sounds good for different reasons. I hope you got tissues for your book, Karen. Sounds heartbreaking!
ReplyDeleteKaren says, Funny, Before I God made Gerard cry but not me. I just thought it moved too slow, and enjoyed the few humorous parts. It was sad and depressing, but I didn't like Daisy quite enough I guess to get that invested in her to where I cried.
